Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be in shape to train in jiu jitsu?
No, you don’t need to be in shape to start jiu-jitsu. Jiu-jitsu is for everyone, and classes are designed to help you build strength, endurance, and flexibility over time. Starting at your current fitness level is perfectly fine, and you'll improve as you train. Just show up, and you'll get stronger with each class.
What do I need to wear to train in jiu jitsu?
For your first jiu-jitsu class, wear comfortable athletic clothes like a t-shirt and shorts or sweatpants. Some schools may provide a gi (the uniform) for you to use, but it's best to check with them beforehand. Avoid clothing with zippers or buttons that could cause injury. Once you decide to continue, you'll likely need to purchase a gi.
What age can my kids start training jiu jitsu?
Our jiu jitsu kids' class is for ages 4+.
Do I need to have experience with jiu jitsu?
No prior martial arts experience is needed to start jiu-jitsu. Jiu-jitsu classes are designed to accommodate beginners and teach you everything from the basics. Instructors guide you step by step, helping you learn the techniques and movements. Come with a willingness to learn, and you'll progress at your own pace.
How much does it cost to train jiu jitsu?
The cost to train in jiu-jitsu varies depending on the location, gym, and type of membership. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $200 per month for regular classes. Some gyms may offer discounts for families, long-term memberships, or special packages. Additional costs might include purchasing a gi and other gear.
